Dunedoo Solar Farm

Dunedoo Site Photo.bmp

ib vogt proposes to develop a 55MW (AC) solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS) on a 92 hectare site about two kilometers north of Dunedoo in Central New South Wales within the Warrumbungle Local Government Area.

The proposed energy project would occupy rural land currently used for stock grazing, cultivation, and improved pasture. The infrastructure includes solar arrays, a substation, an energy storage facility, transmission line to connect to the Dunedoo substation and associated infrastructure. The design process has optimised the site to avoid and minimise impacts to the local area as much as possible.

On 2 September 2021, the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment issued a Development Consent for the project. The consent includes a number of conditions and full details can be seen on the Department of Planning, Housing & Infrastructure Major Projects Portal, linked here.

PROJECT BENEFITS

  • Climate Change: The Dunedoo Solar Farm will contribute to the State and Commonwealth Government’s renewable energy and emissions reduction targets.

  • Electricity Supply: The proposal is located in a strong part of the network with capacity in existing electricity infrastructure. The battery will provide dispatchable energy and grid stability.

  • Employment: The solar farm is predicted to generate around 100 direct jobs during construction, as well as several hundred indirect supply chain jobs, many in the local region.
